Coastal Survey Vessel

Overview
Continental Shelf Associates, Inc. (CSA) supports many coastal field surveys with CSA's 23-ft trailerable deep-V hull vessel, "THE PARKER. " This versatile work boat provides a complete electronic survey and field sampling platform. Trailering a project's survey vessel often is a cost effective and operationally advantageous alternative to chartering vessels of opportunity. Complex multi-sensor survey systems can be mobilized and tested at CSA's shop facility, significantly reducing potential interface and equipment compatibility problems typically associated with charter vessel mobilizations. The lockable hard shell cabin is climate controlled to protect sensitive computers and electronic equipment. In-field productivity also is increased because complex systems can remain in place on board, eliminating constant set up and break down efforts. The vessel's 225 hp bracket-mounted outboard provides ample power for heavy loading with up to 4 to 6 survey personnel and a complete suite of survey equipment. Surveys have been conducted with simultaneous data collection using a CHIRP subbottom profiler, magnetometer, survey fathometer, and RoxAnn seabed classification system coordinated and controlled by CSA's computerized Navigation and Data Acquisition System (NADAS). The NADAS links to a Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) calibrated by its DGPS beacon receiver. These systems all fed data to two on-board computers which each operated on their own uninterruptible power supplies.
