The
corporate headquarters of CSA International are located in Jupiter, Florida, approximately
75 miles north of Miami. Our 18,000 square foot building complex
includes 12,000 sq ft of office space in addition to laboratory
and shop facilities. Regional offices are located in Monterey, California
and New Orleans, Louisiana. High speed modem connections and electronic
mail provide instantaneous communication capabilities between the
corporate and the regional offices.
CSA International's
office facilities are available for word processing, data processing,
graphics, document duplication, and communications. The word and
data processing system is contained on a Windows NT Server network
consisting of dedicated file servers with shared central hard drives,
various level workstations, and shared laser printers. Uninterrupted
power supplies, an automatic daily tape backup, magneto optical
disk storage of large job data sets in-progress, optical archiving
of closed job files, and off-site storage of monthly backup tapes
and copies of archived optical disks protect against loss of data.
CSA uses its in-house local area network and the individual workstations
for most data reduction and analyses. However, when needed, this
facility can be readily interfaced by modem to large mainframe facilities,
remote data sources, other users, or bulletin boards. CSA International has Internet
capabilities allowing direct message and file transfers via e-mail
and FTP in a wide variety of formats (e.g., Adobe PDF, Corel WordPerfect,
Microsoft Word, PaperPort, zip files, etc.). This link also provides
CSA International with additional capabilities to analyze large data sets with
sophisticated scientific and statistical analyses packages. Individual
workstation as well as portable laptop capabilities include a wide
variety of analytical, data reduction, and presentation software.
Additional hardware includes high resolution color and black and
white flatbed scanners, small and large digitizers, high resolution
color printers, and Hewlett-Packard A and E size color plotters.
CSA International
maintains a scientific and technical library of approximately 10,000
reports and 100,000 papers. CSA International's scientific staff members also
maintain readily accessible and extensive personal libraries in
a wide range of fields. In addition, CSA International has operating agreements
with several libraries which provide computer searches of all major
literature and databases.
Drafting
facilities consist of a full array of standard drafting tools and
equipment, including ArcView, AutoCAD, Visio, blueprint copying,
and enlargement and reduction capabilities. A high-speed photocopier
with collation capabilities is normally used for document duplication.
Several local firms are available for high-volume or color duplication
and printing needs. CSA International uses standard telephone and telefax equipment.
CSA International
can provide services for chemical analyses through arrangements
with subcontractors. Analyses include determinations (in concentrations
of parts-per-billion and parts-per-trillion) of metals (e.g., Ba,
Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, and Zn) and petroleum hydrocarbons, organochlorine
compounds (e.g., pesticides and PCBs) in water, sediment, and tissue
samples. CSA International works extensively with several EPA-approved organizations
for chemical analyses. On-board laboratories for at-sea analyses
of critical parameters have been designed and operated by CSA International scientists.
CSA International
maintains an extensive inventory of field equipment and instrumentation.
Field equipment and instrumentation are well maintained so that
sampling programs can be mobilized rapidly by our experienced field
personnel. CSA International utilizes its shop for storage, maintenance, and fabrication
of instrumentation and equipment. CSA International also makes this equipment
available to other organizations through our equipment leasing pool.
In
addition to CSA International's own instrument pool, CSA International operations staff are
extremely familiar with a variety of other equipment that we lease
on a regular basis in support of our projects. CSA International feels that because
the advancement of state-of-the-art technology is so rapid, it is
not always cost effective to purchase equipment that may be outdated
in the near future. Because of this philosophy CSA International enjoys the flexibility
to research the most appropriate equipment for a project without
relying on in-house equipment that may not be suitable for every
application. To expedite this research, CSA International maintains extensive
product files on oceanographic, environmental, and geophysical equipment
manufacturers and also maintains good working relationships with
several different leasing companies throughout the United States.
Many
of CSA International's coastal field surveys are supported by CSA International's 23-ft trailerable
PARKER deep-V hull survey vessel which provides an excellent work
platform complete with 250-hp outboard power, built-in 6.5 KW generator,
air conditioned cabin, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS)
positioning, cellular telephone, VHF radio, video display or chart
recording fathometer, gas-powered hydrographic or capstan winch,
davit, and dive platform. CSA also owns and maintains a trailerable
24-ft Self-Propelled Work Barge equipped with a 15-ft high bow-mounted
A-Frame suitable for vibracoring as well as a variety of other small
vessels for specific survey requirements. To service offshore programs
requiring larger vessels, CSA International maintains a comprehensive file describing
vessels available for lease along all coasts of the United States.
